Stronger Together: CRS Engineers Joins Horrocks

Two men shaking hands and smiling with text, "CRS is now Horrocks"

We are thrilled to announce that Horrocks has acquired CRS Engineering & Surveying to build off our shared strengths and provide even greater services and opportunities for our clients, partners, and employees. Together, Horrocks and CRS are continuing to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions that improve quality of life and make a meaningful difference in the world around us.

“The acquisition of CRS is a transformative step to enhance the value that we bring to our customers by expanding and strengthening our current service capabilities.” Said Bryan Foote, President of Horrocks. “CRS has a long and respected history in the state of Utah, and I am particularly excited to welcome that history and the talented team at CRS into the Horrocks family.”

Founded in 1905, Caldwell Richards Sorensen (CRS) has specialized in a variety of public and private sectors to provide Answers to Infrastructure® to their clients and communities. With nearly 120 years in the industry, CRS has built a strong reputation as the oldest civil engineering firm in Utah, adhering to their core values of effective communication, extreme project ownership, quality, getting it done, and being a clients-first firm.

Following this acquisition, CRS will provide added support and expertise to Horrocks’ current municipal and water services, along with the addition of heavy rail capabilities as one of only eight authorized contractors for the Union Pacific Railroad in the United States. CRS has a strong geographic footprint in Utah, bringing three new Utah offices locations to Horrocks in Salt Lake City, Logan, and Vernal, along with 70 new staff members.

“This is an incredible milestone for our company, and one that will unlock great potential for our teams in the years ahead.” shared Matt Hirst, President of CRS. “We are eager to join another great firm that shares our value-driven approach to employees, projects, and service.”

The acquisition was finalized on September 1, 2024, with CRS’ branding to be phased out over the coming months. This is an exciting chapter for both Horrocks and CRS, and we look forward to a bright future ahead.

Thank you, CRS, for your years of service, and welcome to Horrocks!
