With more than 50 years of experience providing utility-related services to clients in eight states across the country, Horrocks understands how important it is to safely and efficiently collect accurate utility data. Our subsurface utility engineering (SUE) team in Texas locates and identifies existing utilities early in a project’s planning or design phase to avoid costly errors, prevent schedule delays, and reduce safety risks. Our crew is cross-trained in survey to improve accuracy and support data collection.

Shawn has more than 34 years of experience in utilities, including SUE, SUE survey, utility design, utility coordination, and project management on roughly 500 transportation, municipal, utility company, and SUE consulting firm projects in Utah, Texas, Florida, Washington, and 11 other states. He has a vast knowledge of all aspects of SUE, including the use and values of Quality Levels (QLs) A through D and SUE equipment including electromagnetic (EM) detection, ground penetrating radar (GPR), acoustic, GPS, and vacuum excavation. Shawn is also an expert in SUE CAD standards, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and the standards required by CI/ASCE 38-02.
