I-80/SR-89 (STATE STREET) INTERCHANGE
STUDY EIS

Horrocks conducted an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate transportation and safety needs at the I- 80 and State Street Interchange in South Salt Lake City, Utah. Key elements of the EIS included purpose and need, preliminary design and traffic analysis (regional modeling and microsimulation) for over 20 alternatives, GIS data collection and analysis, environmental resource analysis (economics, cultural resources, Section 4(f), noise, and air quality), and coordination with agencies, stakeholders, businesses, and the public. The Selected Alternative included widening the I-80 structure to accommodate an additional lane on State Street and constructing a westbound frontage road between State Street and Main Street to allow for multiple access points to South Salt Lake City.
