The Point project will improve mobility and reduce congestion along I-15 between
northern Utah County and Draper, specifically from S.R. 92 to 12300 South. As
a part of the program management team, Horrocks Engineers helped craft a RFP
and preliminary design to help The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)
reach their goal to select a best-value bidder to widen and place new pavement
along this seven-mile stretch of freeway. The project will expand I-15 to six lanes
in each direction from SR-92 to 12300 South, replaced aged concrete pavement,
replaced bridges and realign the East Frontage Road intersection at the 14600
South interchange in Bluffdale to accommodate future interchange modifications
and enhance the existing traffic management system by installing additional ramp
meters, fiber optics and other infrastructure to improve mobility. Construction is
expected to begin this fall with a target completion date of September 2016.
